You have the chance to hear Grammy Award-winning, Pulitzer Prize-winning, 9 time Grammy recipient Wynton Marsalis play his favorite songs such as "Black Codes (From the Underground)" and "selections from Standard Time". The trumpeter and composer most recently released the album The Democracy! Suite in 2021 and we anticipate we will hear some of the music from this album as well as some of the most iconic jazz songs by this renowned jazzman who fuses the classic jazz of New Orleans with his cutting-edge creativity. For the last three decades, Marsalis has dedicated himself to upholding the jazz tradition of America as the Artistic Director of Jazz at Lincoln Center.

The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, led by Musical Director and Trombonist Christian McBride, is a fifteen-member band comprised of the biggest names in jazz today. The JLCO performs and records over one hundred works for jazz orchestra. The JLCO has performed in over 40 countries on six continents at most every major jazz festival, concert hall, and jazz club around the world. A performance by the JLCO at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts will be a rare opportunity to see the greatest living jazz musicians in the world perform as a band. You will feel the collective energy of the band as well as the individual styles of each soloist, and you will experience the tight bond between each of the musicians and their unique collaborative spirit.
