Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts
Disney and the National Symphony Orchestra perform Disney’s The Little Mermaid at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts on Saturday, July 11th, 2026. The masterpiece is brought to life by the NSO under the baton of Principal Pops Conductor Steven Reineke for this performance of the entire 1989 film, all performed live to the Oscar and Tony Award winning music of Alan Menken.
All of the film’s most beloved songs will be performed live under the stars including ‘Part of Your World,’ ‘Under the Sea’ and ‘Poor Unfortunate Souls’ and many more at Disney’s The Little Mermaid by the National Symphony Orchestra at Wolf Trap.

The NSO, as part of their summer residency at Wolf Trap, presents a summer of symphonic works and also of collaborative programs. This one night of Disney’s The Little Mermaid in Concert will be performed live-to-film. The music of The Little Mermaid is performed by the National Symphony Orchestra in a live-to-film format joining the film as a communal concert.
The National Symphony Orchestra is performing at Wolf Trap’s Filene Center as part of their summer home here. Founded in 1931 as the resident orchestra of the Library of Congress, the National Symphony Orchestra is now based at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. As one of the nation’s premier orchestras, the NSO performs a wide variety of repertoire including symphonic works, film scores, as well as popular music and collaborate with the world’s greatest conductors, soloists and emerging artists.
Steven Reineke is one of the world’s leading conductors of popular music and of film music. As Principal Pops Conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., Music Director of The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall, and of the Houston Symphony, he has led over 180 concerts in more than 100 cities around the world and has appeared with many of the world’s leading orchestras.
Reineke has created a vast repertoire of new works for pops and film, in addition to his activities as a composer. Disney’s The Little Mermaid in Concert will feature the full score of the Disney 1989 animated classic performed live by a full orchestra, with all of the songs from the film performed, including the famous “Part of Your World,” “Under the Sea,” “Poor Unfortunate Souls,” and “Kiss the Girl.”
The original film score was written by Alan Menken with lyrics by Howard Ashman. The film will be screened in high definition while it is being performed live by the orchestra. Menken and Ashman won Academy Awards for Best Original Score and for Best Original Song for “Under the Sea” from the film. The live performance of Disney’s The Little Mermaid in Concert is a unique and exciting way to experience this beloved film.

Filene Center at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts is located at 1551 Trap Road, Vienna, VA 22182. It is on 117 acres of land set aside by the National Park Service to present the widest possible variety of performing arts to the largest possible audiences in an intimate, totally outdoor setting. Within these grounds are the magnificent covered Pavilion with seating for 7,000 under cover and an additional 3,200 on the lawn, as well as an orchestra pit with seating for 88. Guests may bring their own folding chairs to spread out on the lawn on a first-come, first-served basis.
A complete selection of food, hot and cold drinks and adult cocktails are permitted in the lawn area in 18” x 16” x 12” or smaller coolers. A selection of fare is also available at three concessions – Plaza Concessions and Meadow Commons Concessions which are ‘grab and go’ for light-meals, handhelds, packaged snacks, soft drinks and cocktails, and Ovations Restaurant, a seasonal al fresco gourmet buffet, offering dinner and later desserts for which reservations are suggested.
