Ask any guitar fan or enthusiast in the world, and they probably would have heard of Joe Satriani and Steve Vai. Both known for their admirable mastery of the instrument, the two have decided to form their own musical act, now known as the SatchVai Band. With the conclusion of their very successful European tour, the two have excitedly announced their first-ever set of shows in the US with their Surfing With The Hydra tour. The tour is aptly named, as their big North American tour will have 40 shows from April to May, with one show at the Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts on Saturday, 30th May 2026! Special guest Animals as Leaders is also the official supporting act of this tour. The tour is just in time with the release of their highly anticipated single named Dancing, and Joe Satriani joyfully shares, “The SATCHVAI Band rides again! After a fantastic European tour last summer Steve, Kenny, Marco, Pete and I will bring the Surfing With The Hydra Tour to the US. The formation of the SatchVai Band is a coming together of 50 years of artistry, collaboration, and passion for music. Joe Satriani, who is the bestselling instrumental rock guitarist of all time and the lead guitarist for music icon Mick Jagger’s first-ever solo tour, also happens to be Steve Vai’s guitar teacher. Vai eventually became successful in his career as a musician as well, earning a total of 15 Grammy Award nominations, like his teacher, and winning three of them. When asked about his thoughts about touring with Satriani, Vai says, “Being in the same band with Joe, playing songs we actually wrote together on stage, in real time felt like watching a childhood fantasy step out of my teenage brain and stroll onto the stage. And somehow, it was even more rewarding, satisfying, and downright fulfilling than I ever thought possible.” Aside from Satriani and Vai, the band is made up of guitarist Pete Thorn, drummer Kenny Aronoff, and bassist Marco Mendoza. With the caliber of each musician, every stage they come to will truly witness a phenomenon.

Animals As Leaders

Instrumental progressive and experimental metal band Animals As Leaders is also ready to ride the waves of music in the Surfing With The Hydra Tour. Highly respected in the djent scene, they have had four full-length albums since 2011. Their guitarist Javier Reyes has described their music as “What you’re hearing is the madness of the band, what happens in our heads, and what it sounds like when you put it all together,” They’re more than ready to energize the stage for these upcoming shows!

Extraordinary guitar medleys will be rocking the whole Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts of Virginia on Saturday, 30th May 2026! As the sole national park dedicated to the performing arts, its nature-oriented setting and modern renovations have enabled it to become a very ideal stage for musical acts.
